The 2024 Highlight Video
Greatly appreciate your support at Northwest Christian School.
If you already know the drill about redirecting your taxes to tuition, skip ahead via the button below.
"Write-off" vs "Tax Credit"
A write-off is a donation that reduces your taxable income. $50k income - $5000 in "write off" = $45k "taxable income". Therefore, it's still technically an out-of-pocket cost. (still a hard cost to you)
The way a tax-credit works is that at any time between now and April 15th, 2025 you can contribute to Arizona Tuition Connection (using Harper and Hendricks' names and NCS). Then, when you file your 2024 taxes you will deduct the amount you donated to us (up to $2,910 per married couple or $1,459 for singles) off of what you owe (your AZ tax liability) for your Arizona state taxes.
Because it is a dollar-for-dollar tax credit, the net cost to you is zero. You have the option of paying your taxes to the state, or simply redirecting those funds through this program to our family.
Curious what Marcia's "day-job" is? We thought it would be fun to give you taste of what Marcia does for teaching her online students and create an informative video in the same way she educates her students. This video is meant to explain the very basics between a tax "write-off" and a "tax credit".
DISCLAIMER: If you have any questions, please consult a licensed tax professional or visit: https://azdor.gov/tax-credits. In this video, I will explain the difference between a tax credit and a tax deduction. I will even give some example scenarios for the state of Arizona.
10yrs old • 5th grade
Hendricks is now in 5th grade at Northwest Christian School. It's wonderful to see his growth and development. He continues to show a strong interest in math, a subject he truly enjoys. He's also exploring new areas like drone technology and coding, skills that are both challenging and exciting for him. He is still playing the drums and continues to take lessons every week. He even won first place in the "drum off" category for the school talent show this fall. He's loves watching NFL football with dad and sister and his favorite player is Budda Baker on the Cardinals.
Hendricks was in the spelling bee this year and came in 4th place for the 5th graders (He went out on the word 'chassis'....yikes!). He went on to the school spell off and won 5th place. He enjoyed cheering his buddies on that won 1st and 2nd place!
11yrs old • 6th grade
Harper is now in 6th grade at NCS and an OFFICIAL middle schooler! Welcome to lockers and switching classes every hour! She is having a blast and even starting to navigate technology as the students access most assignments on their school ipad! On the soccer field, Harper plays on the 5th & 6th grade girls’ league. She was also invited by summer soccer coach to do lessons at the indoor soccer gym and has been doing that most weeks. Her love for reading has her breezing through books and has us constantly making trips to the library.
This year, Harper joined the middle school band and drama team. She is playing the flute in band and loving it! She also got to play Gretel in the play and was promoted to lead stage manager. She plans on being in band again next year!
By law, all tax credit donations need to go through a state-approved 501c3 tuition organization. After reviewing several organizations across the state of Arizona, we chose to use Arizona Tuition Connection based on their prompt responses, swift action and overall helpful manner to speed us through the process.
If you have any further technical questions, feel free to call Arizona Tuition Connection at 480-409-4106.
They are great to work with. Once you donate a receipt will be provided for your tax advisor.
And of course, please call us if we can answer any further questions! 623-628-6928
Sincerely,
The Corby Family
